Photo report from UxCamp Europe 2015!
26 June 2015, MaÅ‚gorzata TraczykUxCamp in Berlin – one of the largest UX events in Europe. Of course we had to be there 🙂
2-day conference, 500 participants, 10 parallel paths and 100 speeches in total. Wow! Below you’ll find a photo report from our trip.
Uxeria was one of the sponsors to this year’s UX Camp in Berlin. Next to the standard perks such as participation in the event we could i.e. share our gadgets. As you probably know our gifts are always cool and we’re working on the new ones all the time. Lighters and lanyards were delivered to the event in the very nick of time. We’ve had pens and the rest in storage so there was no problem with bringing these 🙂 But, right before our departure we realised that we have a whole bunch of gadgets and nothing to put them in. Because what’s the point of having 300 pens if we’d need to put them on the floor…It actually reminded us about the story behind the English version of our website where everything was running, translated and dreamy but we forgot to create the flag that users click to change the language 🙂 But we did it! Before the last stores were closed, the day before our departure we bought bowls which wouldn’t break at the first turn of the road (here goes a small warning for start ups – glass bowls can easily get broken in a car which can cause finger cuts that result in a roll up and stand covered in blood – plastic bowls rulez!
And so we set off 🙂
As it turned out hotel rooms looked exactly like their photos at Booking.com. But the view was slightly different…
What was interesting you could also find a vegetable soap in our hotel bathroom 🙂

First day of the UxCamp
First day of the conference was really exciting. We got to the venue before others and had a chance to marvel at beautiful industrial interiors.
Our gifts started disappearing in the blink of an eye at the checkin.
Experienced after the UxCamp in Gdynia we knew that to gain good position at the speeches board you had to show speed, skill and wit. You should also have a well-thought-out subject and preview. Why? Because there were 10 paths and 5 different timetables at the UxCamp. Multiplying this we got 50 speeches of UX experts daily (plus the keynote speech of Eric Reiss). For the participant of the conference to choose your speech you have to stand out – the preview for the speech should be catchy, sexy and wow (and of course full of merit 🙂 We succeeded in that.
And now few words on the speeches of others. The ones that we attended were fascinating and we regret that we couldn’t attend to all of them (we’re mostly disapointed that we’ve missed Rolf Molich’s speech). Some real diamonds caught our attention during the conference. A video from the end of the speech Holger Eggert can be found below. You’ll surely guess which song was remixed after the few first chords.
Eric Reiss’s speech was also amazing, he used our lighters in his presentation! Thanks so much for this! We’ve remembered the following sentence most vividly from his speech – Creativity is not what you do, but how you think!
Slides from the speech.
Afterparty
Before every afterparty it’s worth to have your own before party 🙂 Thanks to this we took a completely different angle on the stairs mentioned above.
Second day of the conference
The second day of the conference was as exciting as the first one. It was a series of truly inspiring speeches, cool games and delicious wursts.
Our journey back to Warsaw was full of fatigue which you can probably see at the photos 🙂
And so our trip was over. We’d like to thank and congratulate the organisers – Henning Grote, Ludwig Gatzke, Luzi Beyer, Stefan Freimark, Tom Allison, Thomas Kuber, Clive Lavery. Great scale of the event, great deal of knowledge and novelties, many fascinating and inspiring people. We’ll definitely come back next year!
We’d also like to present some tweets on Uxeria that we’ve noticed 🙂
